Does it make the Monday Night Cut?

Within the last year, video streaming has become the latest and greatest form for movie viewing. Fewer people are going to the movies, and more people are staying at home- so the question is, why?

Well, there are two primary reasons. First, streaming allows viewers to watch the same, if not similar, programs at the comfort of their own home. Rather than spending hours of getting ready to only sit in silence in a cold movie theater with your friends, viewers are given the convenience of actually engaging with their peers about the content of the film or show they are watching by either pausing or even rewinding the film.

Secondly, video streaming is cheaper- especially if you are a college student. Paying for school, rent and many other utilities creates a tight restraint on the monthly budget of any college student, leaving only a small allowance for casual spending, like going shopping or to the movies. In addition, rather than spending $20 for just two movie tickets, viewers spend roughly $8 a month on a video streaming network where they are able to watch as many films and shows as they wish. With the increasing prices of movie tickets and concessions, video streaming makes for a better, more feasible situation.

Currently, Netflix and Hulu are the most popular video streaming networks with Amazon Prime, YouTube, and HBO Go as both companies main competitors.
